How Sublimation Works

Your artwork is printed onto a special paper and transferred onto a white polyester garment by applying high heat and pressure. The solid dye particles convert into gas — known as sublimation — where they diffuse into the polyester fibres and re-solidify. Unlike screen printing & embroidery the dye is permanently stained into the fabric.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of Sublimation?

– Artwork is permanently fused into your garments, so it will not peel or fade.

– Sublimated garments have a very soft hand feel – colours are infused into the fabric, not sitting on top of the fabric like a screenprint. This allows the movement of air in and around the body to take moisture away from the skin.

– Colours are vibrant and high quality.

– Decorate the whole garment – front, back and sleeves – for maximum impact

– Garment and logo colours can be exactly matched to your brand

– Easy to wash and care for, no ironing of garments required

What file formats do we need for printing our logos for Sublimation?

Files required – EPS, AI & vector PDF

These formats are made up of scalable objects, & as a result will not lose their quality if resized.

Artwork must be supplied in a vector format (high resolution) if not additional fees may apply for the creation or conversion of artwork.

Can I supply my own garments?

No this is not possible.

What are the disadvantages of Sublimation?

– Sublimation can only be applied to white polyester garments.

– Minimum quantities will apply.

– Cannot be applied on ready-made garments, unless only wanting chest or back print.

– Limited size & area.

– Sublimation takes longer than other methods of decoration.

– Exact colour matching through the Pantone Matching System may not be possible.

How long does it take to complete my order?

Turnaround time approx. 6 weeks from art approval but please give yourselves more time as you never know what can happen, we don’t want you disappointed by leaving your run to late.

How much does it cost for Sublimation?

The cost of Sublimation depends on quantity, what type of garment you want.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes. Minimum of 10 – Your artwork/logo must be applied in the same size/colour 10 times.
